Hi Guys, The weather has improved, So we decided the shoot part 2 of the outdoor natural light HEART XPERIENC with Joe. Most of the shots where taken at at the Stourport boat park near the river Severn in worcestershire we found some really gritty locations in the boat yard which is mostly derelict and run down, made for some interesting shot. Last week as we all know was very cold lots of snow around and very icy. Tracy & Lee, will be saying their "I DO's at Rowton Castle Nr Shrewsbury on the 10th March.

Tracy and Lee are no strangers to each other meeting at their local infants school some years earlier. Tracy felt it would be a great idea to go back to the place in the playground where they had a photograph taken of them both sitting on the wall. Last Saturday school gate keys in hand we made our way over to Rowley Hall Primary School. We were met with blazing sunshine, deep blue skys and snow covered walls. The school had not really changed much over the years some of the gardens had made way to tarmac, some of the trees had since been removed, but generally the same. Our shoot was primarily to repeat the same shot from yesteryear with a few romantic shots for good measure. Take a look and enjoy, we certainly did.

One of our previous clients recommend us to Joe some time ago to come and enjoy the HEART XPERIENC, a portrait photography shoot using mainly natural light, The weather was not too great with ice cold winds and snow, so we decided to shoot some shots in the studio. Jerry Ghionis Critic of Several Heart Weddings Images

AS a member of world renowned wedding photographer Jerry Ghionis Ice Society, Ice members were invited to submit several wedding images for Jerry to give his advice and comment regarding their potential for high end competitions, 175 images where submitted globally and 3 of our images received his critic. If you are a photographer and are already a member of the ice society you are able to view and listen the full critic in chapter 48 under the advice section.
Jerry's basic view was although our images where demonstrating good technique he felt that the images did not have the impact which high end judges are looking for, but equally, fantastic for the wedding album. After ;listening to Jerry's personnel views I was very pleased and somewhat honored to have my images receive critic by the top man himself.

Jerry was named in the first ever list of Top Ten Wedding Photographers in the World by Amercian Photo magazine. He won the WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) Wedding Album of the Year for seven times among his long list of accolades and WPPI included Jerry in their Top Five Wedding Photographers in the World. Jerry was also named as the 2011 Australian Wedding Photographer of the Year by the AIPP (Australian Institute of Professional Photography). Wedding Show at Menzies Stourport Manor Hotel

Hi everyone, Sunday last, 29th January we enjoyed our first wedding show of the year at the Menzies Stourport Manor Hotel, Worcestershire. The Show was organised and advertised by the "I WILL" wedding show team, This was our first show at this venue so we were not to shure what to expect. The weather was with us and the turnout was brilliant, the show was very busy all day. On the Heart Wedding stand for about three hours it was none stop, lots of couples looking at our albums and frames. Our 18 x12 large portfolios are always very popular. Wedding photography leads where into double figures by 2.00pm, so very pleased with the out come of what was a very busy day.
Heart Weddings would like thank all the couple who came and spoke to us, and of course "I WILL" who as normal did us pround, Thanks Lynda!

Photographing a couples wedding day is quite a different challenge in the winter and always a full on day, a total joy to experience. When clients send your their thanks I always feel overwhelmed by the kind words and sentiments. Kerry and Chris did their "I DOING" on the 15th December last year at Grafton Manor in Bromsgrove.

We have just finished picking the photos for our album and just wanted to say thank you for everything! You really made us and our guests feel at ease and the photographs are amazing. Hi everyone as promised here is a further collection from Kirsty and Nick's fantastic wedding day on 14th January 2012, Starting at the second venue of the day was the popular Granary Hotel in Shenstone nr Kidderminster Happy Days! The day was just so perfect, sunshine as though it was the height of summer, blue blue sky's with that wonderful crisp early morning frost. On the morning we started with Kirsty proudly showing me her stunning shoes by Christian Louboutin. Being a sucker for shoes that was it, I was off on a photo trip shooting these stunning shoes. Kirstys hair was gorgeous as you can see. Kirsty & Nick had predicted that their wedding day would sunny frosty and crisp. boy they were absolutely spot on, Saturday 14th of January sure was a gorgeous day with loads of sun, and of course a touch of frost. The blue skies lasted all day, so did this stunning wedding. Kirsty and Nick enjoyed their wedding preshoot in October last year and I knew that their wedding day was going to be delight to shoot. THe venue was the stately Hagley Hall,nr Stourbridge. Set in 350 acres of beautiful landscaped parkland with stunning views this country house has been privately owned for over 250 years and is the home of the 12 Viscount Cobham, a perfect venue for a perfect couple. Playing with {Speedlights}

Hi Guys
One night last week I was trying to see how I could light a subject or subjects sitting at a table during a wedding or other, these images are not tech perfect and I think the idea needs to be thought out a little more.
To improve the hard light from the speed light ( Nikon SB900} set to 1/4 power and covered it with a white cotten table napkin, the ones you find in a restaurant, this diffused the light and made for a better more softer light. The exposure was for the ambient light which was predominately Tungsten, camera on AWB shutter set at 10th sec ( Flash Rear shutter mode) this enabled to ambient light a chance to get in the frame To keep the speedlight power in check I used a small aperture F10, perfect.
The shot was hand held so a little softness focus was experienced, however if I was shooting for real I would consider the use of a mono, or tripod, The images where processed via photo mechanic, and post produced in LR3. Camera, Nikon D3s, 10th sec f10 at 400 iso. Will try to use the technique on my next wedding, if the opportunity arrises of course. Any comments greatly appreciated.

Another winter wedding at Grafton Manor, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. The day opened with clear blue skys long shadows. The Manor look very seasonal, inside was something else, beautiful Christmas decorations using just natural branches with red berries and of course crystal lights, stunning. The main hallway was the home to a huge christmas tree decorated with traditional handmade baubles. Kerry and Chris chose their worcester venue very carefully, Kerry and Chris who both live in South Wales wanted to have a surprise for their friends and family, FIREWORKS, and how great was that, here is a peek at the fireworks will be posting a further collection soon.

We all arrived at the stately Brockencote Hall, at about two o'clock, it was already starting to go dark, there was not much light but made the best of what light we had. Afternoon tea's are always served in the afternoon at this fantastic victorian house. British elegance at is best. AS promise here is a further collection from the festive lunch time indulgence.

Saturday 3rd December we photographed the wedding of Natalie & Ian, a wonderful intimate and private wedding at the Brockencote Hall Hotel, the weather was bright and clear but feeling quite chilled in the shade.

Brockencote is a peaceful luxury retreat, tucked away amid some of the finest worcestershire countryside. This magnificent Victorian country manor house hotel is set in 70 acres of beautiful parkland, complete with a scenic lake and in the distance, a gentle glimpse of the famed Malvern Hills. Hello everyone, Carina and Martin or should I say Mr & Mrs Stubbs decided along time ago that on the ELEVENTH DAY OF OF THE ELEVENTH MONTH 2011, like many Brides around the world that they would sign seal and deliver their wedding vows on this very special date. Carina and Martin both met each other on the 4th April 2004, both enjoying extensive travel and have visited some amazing places. The Venue, Ardencote Manor Hotel Country Club and Spa with a backdrop of 83 acres of landscaped grounds and a private lake was the perfect setting for such a wonderful day. Knowsley Hall Wedding Flash Shoot

This selection of images are from a big flash workshop held at Knowsley Hall in Liverpool. The workshop organised Brett Harkness, Brett and his wife Kristie have shot numerous weddings all over the world. His photography skills and lighting techniques make him one of the sort after photographer's in the UK. The main idea for me to attend, was to enhance further the light skills I currently use by incorporating portable studio flash on location, this now enables me to offer images to my clients that most other photographers would not even consider.

( Please see below) three types of lights where used, Elinchcrom Quadra, approx 600ws. and the Elinchrom Ranger 1200ws, with the odd speedlight for back and fill lights. All lights where modified with Portalite and Rotalux Softboxes to give a more softer light. At Heart weddings the Quadra is now standard kit, we will be starting to use the bigger Ranger kit in spring. Have fun. Regards Jon

Hi everyone, here at last the final collection of Naomi Evis. the photographs were created using natural light, and at this time of year there's not a lot of it, especially indoors. all of the images are using natural light as the main key light, I have also used a Dedo daylight balanced video light as a kick light. the table refection shots were created using a Lowel id and a normal kitchen glass table. lens used is a nikon 85mm 1.4 prime, with the odd occasional use of a 105mm VR11 2.8 at f4. bodies used today Nikon D3 Nikon D3s.

The first shot of the day, Naomi stood under a Kitchen down lighter the colour temp was none to pleasing but it works so well as a Black & White with a cream tone.

Kerry & Chris will be saying their ‘I DO’s at Grafton Manor in Bromsgrove on the 15th December. Kerry & Chris who both come from Cardiff in South Wales travelled to Bromsgrove to finalise their wedding details. Kerry was quite opened minded with regard to the venue choice, and after much deliberation she chose the beautiful Grafton Manor. Grafton Manor was built in 1567 by the Earl of Shrewsbury an important political figure and leading member of the catholic church at the time. The house has been home to the Morris family since 1945. John (now Lord of Grafton) opened Grafton Manor initially as a restaurant and then as a hotel in 1980.

The eshoot was in the the grounds of Arely Arboretum in Shropshire, the climate for this time of year is unusually mild although on the west side of gardens the wind was pretty strong coming up from the severn valley. The autumn colours are still quite stunning which gave us a fantastic backdrop to which proved to be another loverly eshoot. Enjoy.

Having a break from the computer screen this lunch time, I was sitting in sunshine and spotted this scene, the sun was very bright which created this great extreme contra-jure shot. The second shot I added a bare speed light to complement the flair of the sun, 250sec at F14 iso200, Then I sat back and enjoyed my cuppa tea. :-) Take a peak.

Alex & Darrell chose a perfect venue to say their “I Do’s. Wharton Park Golf Club which is situated at the top of long bank in Bewdley, Worcestershire. the day started with some great family antics at Darrell's parents home in Stourport, it was pretty calm until all of Darrell's brothers arrived, however Janette (Darrell's mum) soon sorted them out and got them ready for some photographs. I was kindly informed by Julian one of the brothers that Darrell is pretty handy with wood and built a huge wood garage which was looking really cool at the bottom of the garden, made a great backdrop for some rustic :-) photographs of the groom.

The Bride was getting ready at Dawn and Robert's home ( Alex’s parents ) Alex also loves photography and was taking some shots of her flowers, whilst every one else got prepared for the day. Alex and Darrell enjoyed a fantastic honeymoon in Rome, perhaps one of the most stunning cities in the world. No room in the bag for me I’m afraid. :-(

Carina and Martin's Wedding Pre-shoot in Kenilworth

Hi everyone.

Yesterday afternoon’s Wedding day pre-shoot was with Carina & Martin from Kenilworth, they both had decided to have a steady stroll around Abbey Fields which not far from the centre of Kenilworth. Some of the Abbey ruins date back as far as the 15th Century. Kenilworth is a small and historic town in the green heart of Warwickshire, itself at the centre of England.

Carina & Martin will be saying their “I Do”s at the Ardencote Manor Hotel Country Club and Spar on 11th of the 11th 2011. we will be posting the rest of the shoot on the Heart Weddings site shortly in the mean time lets all take a peak.

Post Production, Removal of People from Photographs

This week we were asked by a prominent studio to remove two people from a photograph, why? well we never ask we just get on with the job. This particular image posed some very challenging work, the lady on the left was covering the steps of the church and with no other photograph available with the steps in full view we had to construct the steps from small pieces, just like a jigsaw. The removal of the gentleman on the right was fairly easy to achieve, the tree on the left was transferred and flipped from the left side to cover him. Last of all we had to move the brides mother a little closer to the bride as the gap looked too obvious. This was achieve by creating a keypath then cutting the lady out, she was then positioned a little closer to the bride. To finish we aged some of the brick work. a quick colour adjustment and there you have it. When you have to create data ( Paint) with a photograph it can be very challenging, the results are not always perfect but overall acceptable to most people. This photograph is not perfect I would have liked to reposition the trio a little more central to the church doors, but the cost of time and budget was prohibitive. Please bare in mind this kind of work is time demanding hence the cost of such invasive work can be expensive. This particular image was worked on for over an hour.

If you have any photograph that you would like adjusting or repaired, please call us you will be amazed at what can be achieved, it also makes it much easier if we can see the original photograph, we would be far better placed to give you a costing.

Saturday started a little overcast with the threat of shows looming, so it was inside to take some shots of Michele's girls, the day turned our to be a great journey of discovery. the light was changing constantly but we managed to achieve some great shots in various parts of the house. all the pictures are taken using natural light, with the odd use of a lowel ID for backlight. some of the locations where very dark resulting in high iso settings, however I do like some of the grain achieved. All the make up was created by Michelle Clarke Graham, owner and founder of 'Our Perfect Bride" The shot below is the stunning Rachael Louise Perry. Rachael has recently graduated from Keel University and will be working in criminal law. We all wish her all the success for the future.

Back in May, gosh seems so long ago, Heart wedding was asked by the wedding community to supply one of my images from a recent wedding that was held at the Aviator Hotel in Farnborogh, The hotel is situated very close the airport just outside the town centre. The Aviator hotel its self is quite spectacular, and a sensational venue for a wedding. Photography here is challenging as once your inside the ambient light is very low, so loads of iso required, My sincere thanks go to Helen and Darren and of course all of their wonderful friends and family, this was a wonderful day. I must admit I was complete drained by the time we had driven back home, but well worth it. My thanks also to my partner in crime Nigel Pullen, Thanks Nigel.

Kate Holmes, the shot that nearly got away

Kate & Dan Holmes have ask me to design their wedding album creating a story from the images of the day. More recently I find that clients prefer me to design their wedding album without the clients having to choose images for themselves, of course when the proofs are presented to the clients may adjust one or two images but that fine, one of the key benefits here is my clients enjoy the experience, anticipation and excitement of what the album will look like, and of course saving them time. The above image was created with influence from the ice society.

Hi everyone, this is my first draft for my Autumn 2011 Spring 2012 "I WILL" Magazine, my main thoughts were to keep it clean and to the point, the image features Mrs Kate Holmes, I was very fortunate to shoot her wedding in beautiful South Wales, The shot was taken in the grounds of Aberglasney Gardens, Kate chose this venue for her bridal portraits. If you ever get the chance to visit the house and gardens they are stunning. For photographers the best light is under the house portico, and the garden archways. for group shots, in front of the house ( Light permitting) or at the top garden, this has a gorgeous panoramic view of the house in the background. Also a great location for pre-wed shoots.

Kate & Dan's Wedding Day May 28th 2011

Earlier in the year Kate & Dan enjoyed a wedding day pre-shoot in Aberglasney gardens in Carmathenshire, we had some great early spring weather, the rain kept at bay, and we had some great shots, Kate & Dan chose one of those images to be mounted in their signature frame,. Signature frames not so popular in South wales, so the guests where thrilled to be able to offer their best wishes as a permanent reminder to Kate & Dan in their home.

The Day started at Kates father's house, in Gowerton Swansea, the church resides in a gorgeous small village just north of Rhos called Cilybebyll, tried to pronounce several times, not easy to get right. Kate decided some time ago to have some photographs taken at Aberglasney before we rejoined the guests who where patiently waiting outside Kates and Dan venue at the Cowdor Hotel in Llandeilo. The choice of venue was perfect, I really must say the wedding breakfast was outstanding. Kate & Dans Guests demanded to see the chef who deservedly received a standing ovation when they entered to room, never experienced that before. The wedding day went like clock work. Just such an enjoyable day for every one.Mr & Mrs Holmes flew the NYC for their honeymoon, congratulation to you both.. Jon, Heartweddings
